Program Overview

Workplace conflict is inevitable and the ability to manage conflict effectively is a critical leadership skill.

Poorly managed conflict drains energy, time and money and damages relationships. Leaders who fail to manage conflict effectively put their careers at risk.

This proven coaching program focuses on developing greater self-awareness and skills that will enable you to successfully manage conflict and create collaborative high performing teams.

Participants will gain an oversight of how they currently behave under pressure and will be taught a series of skills that will enhance their leadership capability.

Organisations will benefit from developing conflict competent leaders who will create a collaborative culture that retains high performers and increases productivity.

Program Objectives

Embracing conflict competently is a crucial life skill which can promote both organisational and personal success.  Being able to manage your emotions and make a positive contribution during conflict will lead to positive outcomes and satisfying relationships.

The aim of this one-on-one coaching program is to provide you with the knowledge and skills to become a conflict competent leader. Conflict competence is the ability to develop awareness and use skills that enhance productive outcomes of conflict. The program utilises the highly acclaimed Conflict Dynamics Profile to identify your current behaviours in conflict. We then work with you to develop constructive conflict behaviours.

The one-on-one sessions provide a safe forum for discussion and reflection. We draw on real past and present scenarios to reflect, perspective take and explore solutions. We use best practice conflict management coaching processes to facilitate your thinking and action planning.

Program Outcomes

Through this program participants will:

  • Gain an awareness of how they currently behave in conflict
  • Gain an insight of how they have improved over the course of the program
  • Learn skills for successfully managing conflict including how to reflect, perspective take, speak with clarity, ask powerful questions and listen attentively.
  • Receive useful coaching and mentoring on how to become conflict competent
  • Examine practical real life examples of conflict and explore effective solutions to difficult situations

About the Coach

Mark Rosenberg is an accredited executive coach and mediator and is certified by the Center for Conflict Dynamics at Eckerd College to use the Conflict Dynamics Profile. He has extensive experience as both a lawyer and senior manager at organisations including Blake Dawson, Caltex Australia and Sydney Olympic Park Authority. He has a combined Arts (Psych) / Law degree from UNSW, a Master of Laws from the University of Pennsylvania and a Masters of Management from MGSM. Since 2008 he has been the Managing Director of Balanced Curve and has successfully coached leaders and managers at a broad range of organisations including Telstra, Mirvac, Wendy’s, Snowy Hydro, Athletics Australia and Hockey NSW.

Detail of the Program


The program will take place over a 4-6 month period and will include:

  • 9 one-one-one coaching and mentoring sessions (approx. 90 mins duration)
  • An initial Conflict Dynamics Profile report and debrief
  • A final CDP report and debrief at the conclusion of the program
  • Mini lectures during coaching sessions covering:
    • Understanding conflict
    • Current constructive / destructive behaviours (CDP debrief)
    • Managing emotions
    • Reflective Thinking
    • Perspective Taking
    • Speaking so people understand you
    • Asking powerful questions and listening to understand
    • Collaborative problem solving
  • Action learning through conversations about past and current challenges
